Tropical Storm Edouard is closing in on Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana, with heavy rainfall and gusty winds expected as the storm approaches the coastline Tuesday. Hurricane Hunter aircraft measured a pressure of 1004 millibars and winds around 41 mph early Tuesday morning. Edouard continues moving west-northwest at approximately 8 mph, with the center roughly 45 to 50 miles from the coast at the time of this forecast. The latest forecast takes Edouard between Cameron and Sabine Pass, with the center approaching the coastline and the Sabine Lake/Sabine River area around lunchtime. Heavy rain is expected to wrap around the storm and spread across Southeast Texas through the afternoon. Some of the highest rainfall totals are projected across western Jefferson, eastern Chambers and western Hardin counties, with localized amounts potentially reaching 7 to 9 inches. Rain chances increase to 80% to 90% during the early afternoon, while hurricane watches remain in effect from around High Island toward Cameron.
