O’Keefe confronted Abdoul Beckwith, a regional field organizer for Michigan U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, at the campaign’s Detroit office following our undercover investigation into Beckwith’s claims about overseas campaign contributions, Hamas, and the Muslim Brotherhood. When O’Keefe questioned Beckwith about his previously recorded statements revealing El-Sayed receives donations from overseas, Beckwith became visibly agitated, repeatedly cursed at O’Keefe, and lunged toward him as another individual physically restrain him. “I don’t give a f* who you are, bro,”** Beckwith repeatedly shouted. Campaign staff demanded O’Keefe and his team leave the premises, warning they would call the police. “We’re going to ask for one more time and then we’re going to have to call the cops.” Outside the campaign office, O’Keefe continued seeking answers about Beckwith’s allegations as individuals inside appeared to block the windows. Another individual confronted O’Keefe and accused him of racism. O’Keefe challenged the accusation while reiterating that his questions concerned potential violations of federal campaign finance law. O’Keefe asks, “I want to know why the money is coming from overseas.” Under 52 U.S.C. § 30121, foreign nationals are prohibited from contributing to federal campaigns. However, U.S. citizens living abroad and lawful permanent residents may legally contribute. Beckwith’s allegations do not independently establish that illegal contributions occurred. Following the confrontation, OMG received confirmation from the Michigan Democratic Party that Beckwith had been terminated from his position. O’Keefe has filed a police report in Michigan following the assault. The incident was documented under Police Report #2610150266.
