A family is mourning after an overnight mobile home fire claimed the lives of a woman and her fiancé in Southeast Texas. Relatives say they tried desperately to rescue the couple after flames broke out around 12:30 a.m., but heavy fire blocked access to the home. First responders later cut through a window to reach the victims, who were transported to CHRISTUS Southeast Texas–St. Elizabeth Hospital, where both later died. Family members said both victims had disabilities, which they believe made escaping the fire more difficult. Fire investigators are working to determine what caused the blaze. Authorities have not yet announced the official cause of the fire.
