NY AG Letitia James first appearance since fraud indictment

New York Attorney General Letitia James spoke at a rally for New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani. It was James’ first public appearance since being indicted on federal fraud charges. “I won’t give up and I won’t give in,” James said during the rally. “I fear no man.” “I know what it feels like to be attacked for just doing your job. But I also know what it feels like to overcome adversity. And so I stand on solid rock,” James added. James was charged with bank fraud and making false statements to a financial institution stemming from a house she bought in Norfolk, Virginia, for $137,000 in 2020. She is expected to make her initial court appearance in Virginia on October 24. If convicted of a felony, she would have to relinquish her office under New York law. James was the headline guest speaker at a rally for Democratic Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani ahead of the November 4th election. Mamdani faces former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa in the race to succeed Eric Adams, who dropped his reelection bid.
