Thieves steal 12 tons of KitKat chocolate bars from truck in Europe

We are learning more this weekend as the Swiss food giant Nestlé reports that around 12 tons of KitKat bars were stolen while being transported from its production facility in Italy to Poland. According to reports, the shipment of candy bars disappeared last week while en route between production and distribution locations. LiveNOW’s Shawna Khalafi is learning more about the possible repercussions for the sweet tooth criminals with law enforcement expert, Jamie Copenhaver. “Whilst we appreciate the criminals’ exceptional taste, the fact remains that cargo theft is an escalating issue for businesses of all sizes,” KitKat said in a statement. “With more sophisticated schemes being deployed on a regular basis, we have chosen to go public with our own experience in the hope that it raises awareness of an increasingly common criminal trend,” the statement added.
